Thornton-le-Beans Village Hall

Hall 2Our friendly village lies 3 miles south of Northallerton, North Yorkshire, just east of the main Thirsk road (A168).  The Hall is the former village school at the top of School Lane (DL6 3SN), first converted in the 1950s.  We demolished and rebuilt the original kitchen and toilet block in 1999, and then completely refurbished everything else in 2005-12  – including installing double-glazing throughout.  More recently we added solar PVC panels to the roof and free Wi-Fi.

During September 2020 our regular Hall users are each considering re-opening their normal activities, and the Hall Committee is working with them to establish a joint cleaning regime.  Please contact you own activity leader for more details.
NB Bridge and Whist will not be starting yet because their playing format is not
compatible with social distancing.

Please note that there will be no Christmas Draw or Christmas Senior Citizens’ Party this year.

We now offer a safe, warm, well-equipped venue with under-floor heating and off-road parking.  It is ideal for committee meetings, courses, adults’ or children’s parties, wedding receptions, social evenings, charity sales and many other events.

We have one main room thHall 3at holds up to 75 people seated or 120 standing.  There is a smart modern kitchen with a serving hatch to the main room.  There are no steps anywhere in the building, and there is a disabled toilet, so access is not a problem.  For more details see our Facilities and Charges page.

The Hall is in high demand but we always welcome new private hires.  Please visit our Bookings Calendar page first to check whether the date you have in mind is available, and then contact us  to discuss your requirements.

100 Club winners for September 2020 can now be checked on the NEWS link.

Every August the Hall Committee organises the Thornton-le-Beans Village Show  and Children’s Sports in the field at the top of the village.  This is open to all, especially those with families.  There will be no Show in 2020   -  see our Village Show page.

We already have many regular events including Bridge, Whist, Pilates, and Craft and Chat.  If you are interested in joining any of those sessions full details are on the Contacts page.
